With Valentine’s day around the corner, I’ve got an extra sweet recipe for you that’s for a great cause. I’ve baked up this sweet treat as part of the 2018 Good Cookies Food Bloggers’ Valentine’s Event to benefit one of my favorite charities, Cookies for Kids Cancer. These Chocolate Sugar Cookies are packed with as much chocolate as I could fit into one cookie, and easy to roll out and cut into heart-shapes. Best of all, there are no calories in a cookie if it’s for a good cause right?
This is the second year that I’ve participated in this charity event for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a charity I’ve had the opportunity to support for the past few years. Last year I baked up these Frosted Sugar Cookies, that were a big hit, so this year I decided to take a different spin on the traditional cut-out with these chocolate dipped Chocolate Sugar Cookies. If frosting is more your style, you can always mix and match these two recipes. But for Valentine’s Day, chocolate dipped seemed like a perfect fit. The more sprinkles the better is my motto when it comes to sugar cookies.
Did you know that cancer is the #1 cause of death of children by disease in the U.S.? There are 40,000 U.S. children actively battling cancer right now. With less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget going to all childhood cancer combined, I knew it was important for me to get involved.Help us make a difference by donating to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer! Our goal is to raise at least $3000. Because these three companies: Dixie Crystals, Mediavine and OXO have each pledged to match our donations raised through this campaign up to $3000! Thanks to many of you, we have reached our goal. You can still donate and help us make an even bigger difference! Donate here.
You can get fancy with decorating these cookies based on your topping preference. I liked the half chocolate dipped with lots of sprinkles. You could get different color chocolate melts and drizzle them on top to be decorative. If you’re a die-hard frosting lover, any flavor frosting would go great with these cookies. Or if you’re a plane Jane sugar cookie aficionado, these cookies are delicious on their own. The possibilities are endless!
So if you’re looking to spread the love this Valentines day, bake up a batch of these Chocolate Sugar Cookies and consider donating to Cookies for Kids Cancer.
